Short #scifi story by [[Isaac Asimov]] from 1956. It surely must have served as inspiration for Douglas Adams´ Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy, and to me it short-circuits all of scifi. Ever. As Asimov said himself: "The idea seems to drown out everything".

"This is by far my favorite story of all those I have written.

After all, I undertook to tell several trillion years of human history in the space of a short story and I leave it to you as to how well I succeeded. I also undertook another task, but I won't tell you what that was lest l spoil the story for you.

It is a curious fact that innumerable readers have asked me if I wrote this story. They seem never to remember the title of the story or (for sure) the author, except for the vague thought it might be me. But, of course, they never forget the story itself especially the ending. The idea seems to drown out everything -- and I'm satisfied that it should." – [[Isaac Asimov]]

Everyone here needs to read Isaac asimovs short story: The Last Question. Its amazing - I don't want to ruin anything by adding more here. Just do yourself the favour and read it. https://www.reddit.com/r/space/comments/imkgfl/the_end_of_the_universe_will_probably_be_fairly/g428tvs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

If you are a fan of The Last Question, I highly recommend the game Outer Wilds. If you don't play games, I recommend Materwelonz's blind playthrough on Youtube. I won't say anything else as the game is highly spoilerable, but I definitely got an Isaac Asimov vibe from it.
